No, the moderator has not decreed anything. A member who happens to have family in the US has disagreed with a sweeping post about 250 million people.


So let me get this right. As a result of having family in the good old US of A. Nobody should refer to the Americans even in friendly terms as Yanks?

Is that what you are saying?

I have family overseas, can they no longer be called POMS? Limeys?

You have demonstrated that overly sensitive and narrow minded over bearing behaviour

No, what I'm saying is that some Americans do not like being called Yanks, such as my southern raised son. Yanks traditionally were non-Confederate Americans and those from the Confederate states may take offence to being called Yank. Just as someone from Scotland may take offence to being called English.

I'm not sure how saying that makes my opinion overly sensitive or narrow minded, but hey! If it makes you happy then say what you like.
