Our house isn't going to be ready tomorrow.

Our house isn't going to be ready tomorrow.
In fact it doesn't look like it'll be ready this time next week, which is a damn shame as we have tradesman booked for next Tuesday to lay carpet and do electrical work and we have to vacate our rental Wednesday.
They say we shouldn't settle until finished but we've explained to them that we have to get in there.
We've asked can we settle tomorrow as planned and hold back $2000 until the work's completed, they said no at first but are now checking with their boss, although we haven't got much hope as they know our predicament.
So after months of chasing them it looks like we're still going to be chasing them when we get in there.
It's not really their fault as the site manager has been in bed all week ill, but they haven't given us any notice to try and make alternative arrangements and it's the long weekend.

Four months is extremely quick... it's a bit of a bummer but these little delays happen. Can you stay a few more days in your rental?
