Optus Wireless Broadband

Hi does anyone have Optus wireless broadband?

From their website, it looks like you can connect to the internet without either a landline phone or a mobile phone!

Is this the case? Does anyone know what kind of coverage the network gives?

The wireless broadband package is $30 per month for 1GB is that reasonable for a wireless?

I use an Optus Wireless Connect broadband card for remote access for work purposes. Don't know what it costs (the bean counters look after that), but the coverage in the Melbourne area is impressive.
I get speeds as fast (if not quite often faster) than my home DSL connection (1500/256).

I can certainly vouch for its performance.

So all it needs is a PCMCIA card in you laptop?

Looks like 3 might be a better bet, as if you buy the modem/pcmcia card then you can sign up to them a month at a time! Am I reading that right, does nayone on 3 know?

Hi does anyone have wireless broadband through 3?

It looks like you can take it a month at a time. Does anyone know if you have to buy the wireless (PCMCIA card) from them or if you can buy one/ use your existing card? As there is no point in spending £100 on one if you already have one!

Had Optus wireless broadband - but ditched it because coverage round here (and indeed anywhere outside large urban areas/cities) is shit. Now with Telstra Next-G - excellent coverage everywhere.

Thats a rip off allowance. Vodafone wireless. $39 per month 5GB.

However, all of the networks are limited compared to Telstras Next G. However, they want arm and leg costs by comparison but if coverage is your issue then I certainly would go Telstra.

We have an Optus Mobile Broadband here, a dongle , usb connector, and easy setup.

Its speed is bullshit, but it gets you out of a pickle.
