Online deliveries?
 

Anyone experiencing very delayed deliveries? I have on order several items for Amazon and Fishponds, none of which have come in the timeframe they advised.
I know that the Covid hoax (I know it's a hoax, the president of the USA said so, so it must be true :rofl: ) but just wondering if a three week delay is now "normal"?

Yes, most orders (except one new mobile phone which incredibly took three days from Eastern States to country WA) .

All other orders have been about, on average, three weeks from dispatch to delivery.

Have you tracking numbers?

Yep, it's all slowed down. East coast to Perth is now a week or longer. Overseas also pot luck

Also, go and try and buy any kind of tech and most stuff is not available - printers, laptops, PC components etc. Restocking is just not happening - another reason to diversify supply chains to countries other than China

I've had things take over 10 days when they should have been 2. Auspost haven't covered themselves in glory, and just when they had the opportunity to permanently grow their business.

I wouldn't be ordering from China at the moment, similarly the US. It could be many months before you saw anything.

And with stores like MSY if you check you'll find many of their stores have disappeared - and the stock at those that remain is depleted.

I certainly agree about China. I would hope - some hope - that the world's politicians will rather late come to realise what has been happening this last 30 years or so. I watched the Chinese virtually take over African countries by offering vastly discounted or free infrastructure in exchange for mineral and agricultural rights etc.
Back to the OP: thanks for the replies. I will hang on just a little more before filing non-delivery suits. Amazon used to be very good but since they began using third party retailers the number of iffy purchase deliveries has, by all accounts, increased.

Yes - I had to buy a new printer over the weekend, drove out to big box store in our regional town, and they only had one left. I wonder if cash flow concerns are stopping stores from placing their normal restocking orders. Big reductions in flights etc also playing a role in reducing cargo shipments.

Like carrying an umbrella to make sure it doesn't rain, my OP seems to have done the trick! A few hours after starting the thread two of the outstanding parcels arrived!

I got a delivery from Melbourne yesterday - nearly 2 weeks after I ordered it and it was dispatched from the retailer within 24hrs of placing the order........

Frankly, we've had the opposite experience, e.g. two new laptops arrived ahead of expected delivery dates recently, and everything else is pretty much arriving as expected.

YMMV, and all that.

Still waiting for the Fishpond delivery, and pretty sure it will never come. I've a claim in with Paypal. ProductReview.com.au has hundreds of very poor reviews of Fishpond, mainly warning that it's a scam site which has a history of never delivering purchases. Certainly seems to have changed - we bought several items from them years ago without problems.

Yeah, I've bought stuff over the years from them no problems and fast delivery too if I remember correctly. But if you haven't received something you ordered in May, I reckon it's not coming.

I ordered some stuff from China and the US a week ago. The US stuff has been dispatched but stuck in NY for some reason. China stuff hasn't even left the warehouse yet.

Wherever possible we've stopped buying from China. Interesting thing is there are some things and foodstuffs that are getting increasingly difficult to find that aren't made in China. Tomato paste is one.... At least around here. We check pretty much everything we buy these days and have noticed a lot of people doing the same.

We are also on a no-Chinese products mission. Sometimes it's impossible not to buy Chinese - LED lighting for example, but we're giving it a red hot crack. I bought some garden tools the other day and paid 50-70% more for the German and Finnish made products rather than buy Chinese

I refuse to buy any food made in China. End of. After multiple trips to Japan, we love Edamame (Soy) beans. We're not allowed to grow them in WA (can't even buy the seeds here) so have to buy frozen. The $3 packs in Colesworth are sourced from China, so I buy them from the Japanese store in Subiaco for $7 a bag

Aldi tomato paste is made in Italy
