Default one way ticket?

Anyone got or getting a good deal on a one way ticket to Oz? All the ones I have looked at are nearly the same price as a return - that cant be right!
Even the one suggested on the visa form is not brilliant - any suggestions?

That's a good price too - are you getting the 40kg allowance too?

Yep if u r on a one way ticket and not taking any stops for a few days then u get ur 40kgs and 5kgs hand luggage. however for ever kg over we were told that would be £20.60 per kg. so i will be packing wisely.

Been quoted £713 one way with Air New Zealand, with stop over in LA or San Francisco (extra £60), stop off in the Pacific and stop over in New Zealand!

The baggage allowance is 46kg, standard... I'm told that you can go a couple of kilos over without penalty!

It's not as cheap as Emirates but it gives us loads of opportunities to make the most of our trip!

Thanks! I know it's not the cheapest, but after just going for it on our reckie trip, we really wanted to make the most of our journey to our new life...

Our son is at Uni and will be coming over later in the summer on a cheaper, faster flight with his GF in tow, and then go back in time for the start of the Academic year, he's moving to another university, to be with his beloved at that time too, so he'll be anxious to get back, I'm hoping that he falls in love with Australia and wants to make it his home once his degree is finished, but I'm not going to hold my breath! ( I guess that if they live together as students that she'll be eligible for a de facto visa!)

hi
You only get double if you have a perm visa unvalidated, we`re going on a457 visa because of circumstances, we don`t intend to return but singapore and emirates won`t give us double the allowance because they say it`s temporary:curse: Make sure you get it in writing from the airline so you dont get any probs at check in

Hi nicolamoon,

We validated our visa last September but aren't looking to move until May this year. Will we not get double baggage allowance on a 136 permanent visa. If not do you know of any other ways to get extra allowance.

With thanks Anne xxx

Hi Anne
not sure on validation if you look on threads I know there are others more in the know than us, We were due to leave Sat 12.45 on coach 11.ooam holdall decided to split literally :curse: After frantic attempts at shopping blagged a case from sis in law ( many thanx Claire n Chris ) . We checked in and our bags were 5kg over each But the check in lass said nowt ( must learn to stop speakin proper Yorkshire). I have read that ther is a firm where you can send your stuff in tea chests for a reasonable price. It depends which airline you travel with some have different policies to others . Hope you suss summat out,
ps
Its a bit warm here must buy a hat I look like a fat swan vesta match

Best o luck
Malx n Nic

Hi, we have just booked our tickets one way to Melbourne with a stopover in Singapore. Our flights cost us £470 each which I thought was good, also got a good deal on hotel in Singapore as flying with Singapore Airlines. Check out my thread on this subject http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=513110

Hope you find this useful!

You can actually get the 40kg luggage allowance AND have a stopover with Singapore Airlines so that's exactly what we're doing! I was told by the travel agent are the only airline now that allow you the 40kg allowance even if you have a stopover for a few days in Singapore.

I'm confused now (doesn't take much at the moment). We have got skilled migration visas 136 and when I rang Singapore airlines yesterday they said that wasn't permanent so I wasn't entitled to the 40kg allowance. Help!
