Maybe the whole thing is staged? All the onlookers are in on it?

The reason I am saying this is that I saw a TV programme a while ago, which showed how a lot of tricks on TV are done. The lot was staged! The homeviewers thought there as a street performer and an audience of passers-by. But the whole thing was an act.
