Default OK, just about had it with Australian windows...

...useless. We're waking up knackered every day because of noise disturbing our sleep.

Decided that when we buy we will incorporate double glazing into our budget. Had a look on a few websites - anybody got any positive or negative experiences with double glazing companies?

I think that now Australia has ratified Kyoto, double-glazing will become compulsory. Is it available in Perth?

When we were renovating we came across a display at the homebase expo in Subi. Not sure how much though.

I agree they are crap, we have spent all weekend trying to clean ours. How the hell do you clean in the gaps where the window slide?

What sort of noises are keeping you awake?

You might like to look up Wol's posts on this subject. Not a very happy tale!

For 9 months of the year we sleep with the windows open to let the breeze in or air-con out (evaporative) so it wouldn't be much good to us. It would be handy in the winter but not justifiable financially.

Like I said ealier, with Kyoto I think it will become compulsory - only on new builds though.

Last night the wind noise was so bad that I thought I left them open - but nope, they were closed.

Mostly road noise, hoons on Fridays and Saturdays, the coffin cheater on the next street who likes to ride is stupidly loud bike, the idiots on the tiny but very loud motorbike who like to go scrambling on the local park at midnight on Fris and Sats - you know the usual thing in Australian suburbia.
