oh what to do
 

hi all as you may know came to adelaide in nov 07 with 3 kids in tow 1 13, 1 15 an 1 17.
17 yr old returned to uk a week later to live with dad :((and i use the word lightly) now 18 and having problems with dad. He's been given 4 weeks to "go back to your mother in oz or i'll kick you out",he just gets drunk and gives my son the guilt trip.:ohmy: never mind he's working but dad requires £200 per month house keeping and travel takes up most of his wages. he has no one he can stay with till he gets paid and he's over his overdraft limit. What can he do?. I'm at my wits end worrying bout how he can get here. We haven't been able to find work and are living on our savings, so can't pay for a flight for him. :confused:
he has validated his visa so has around 4 more years to enter oz permanantly but his dad will drive him crazy - he's already self harming again, he had stopped - we just need him here asap before his dad drives him over the edge. Does anyone know of a cheap flight he could get asap, so he can get out of the grips of an over bearing, selfish, control freak who likes messing with your head. - I was with him 11 years so i know what i'm talking about - i did warn him when he returned but you know what teenagers are like. any ideas would be gratefully recieved as i'm here and he's there.

would it not be possible to put the flight on a credit card, at least then you'd get him back with you, I would imagine the worry of paying off a credit card is a lot less than the worry you have at the moment :(

Was speaking to 'young' travel agent the other day, he got a one way ticket for £600, but i just booked returns for £800 from affordabletravel.co uk for £800 return, so im reckoning you could do it for £400?
Anytime ive been on the bones of my A*** ive turned to car boots sales and ebay! ok he may not have a car, can he auction off anything? He should also go to local job agency (employment) do a few ghosters-fish factory,Tesco, ware houses etc, these agencys are always looking for temp people, it will only take a month or so of hard graft/crap job to get the ticket money. Or speak to the bank to extend overdraft, or a student loan ?
There is always a way when your desparate, been there...

Hi, he only has his clothes as all his other stuff is here, and if he were to get an additional job his dad would take even more money of him so he's as bad burnt or scolded at the moment. His dad is very good at playing mind games, he likes to control everything and everyone around him.
I have told my son to go and have a chat with the bank manager to see if there's any way they can help re, his overdraft.

Pay out of your savings he can get a job and pay you back when he gets here. I know its hard but if you are willing to take any job, there must be some out there. If my son was in that kind of mess I'd do what ever it took to get him back in a safe environment. I know its hard but once he is back with you the stress will be over and you will be able to concentrate on living.

Long haul one-way flights are generally not half the cost of returns....GBP600 for a one way is about as good as it gets at the moment I'm afraid.

yeah been having a look and the lowest so far is £620 with singapore airlines.

Hi, Hopefully this will help but you would have to investigate.

Years ago, a friend of mine worked for DHL, and she knew I wanted to go home for a visit, but couldn't afford to - so she got me a courier flight with dhl.

Basically I paid around $100 for the return flight, Aus to UK, and at each stop I had to meet someone in arrivals and they took paperwork off me and gave me more paperwork for delivery in London. I was really nervous, but in fact it was so easy and the flight attendants knew I was on Courier so they ensured I got off the plane first to ensure all the paper exchanges were done in plenty of time for me to get back on the plane for the next leg.

In fact there were several couriers on my flight DHL, TNT etc etc, so try all the courier firms you never know and he could get a really cheap flight.

They are very good but like the rest depends on the time of year - I know it's difficult but we are still in the school holidays until 2nd September. Most flight prices reduce around the 15th August.

my partner is going out ahead of me and our daughter on the 2nd october, and his flight cost £550 with lastminute.com and thats travelling on ASIANA with a 5 hour stop over in korea.

Have a look at the STA website. Specifically for under 26's. They have a one-way flight to Melbourne for £465 then grab a Virgin Blue internal to Adelaide for not a lot.
