I used to go out with a magician and we met him quite often in blackpool and butlins in pwllheli. he was a good laugh actually, bit moody sometimes and often joined us for drinks after shows. He was alright, not particularly racist or sexist, quite nice really.
Lots of show people drink too much, its part of the circuit, you spend a lot of times in clubs

FFS!!! i saw Paul Daniels in skeggy also last year, and guess what ?? he was shit too!!!...he got a "volunteer" to come up from the crowd and he "glued" his hands to a chair by magic, we all saw his hands come about 6 inches off the chair when Daniels "electrocuted" him..TRUE, cannon and ball were brilliant though!! pissed myself laughing.

The only good thing I can think to say about him is that he used to do a lot of concerts for the British Army, often at his own expense.
To be honest though, he is yesterday's comedian and his material is really tired - same old crap jokes and stories. I saw him about 8 years ago in Folkestone and thought he was rubbish.
There are some comedians who have stayed the course over the years - Frank Carson apparently is cracking, someone else alluded to Cannon and Ball; but Jim should retire - the rascist crap is beyond the pale now so it should go done well here in Australia.
