Default no furniture?

Hi,
Just wondering how people go about the first couple of weeks before the furniture arrives, do you send it easrlier so its there when you arrive or do you live without anything for a few weeks?
Do the shippers not want an address at the other end before they send it?
Still a year away before we move but wondered about this all the same

John

I suspect you have to make do with whats in your suitcases for a couple of weeks.
And depends what you do when you arrive, like go into rented, hotel, friends, etc.

I'm sending all our stuff the week before we leave, so we'll be no beds, sofa, puters, nothing but the rented house does have carpets and a cooker here so I doubt we'll starve.
Reckon we'll leave the last saying goodbye visits till the last week then we can eat out everynight

first couple of weeks? you'll be lucky to arrange it so well!
our shipment took 3 months plus
we stayed with rellies in the UK for the first month, then rented furnished accom for the first 2 weeks in Oz till we found a rental
in our luggage we took stuff to get us thru, stuff that we couldn't buy cheap in Oz, like our laptop for instance
then we bought from a cheap store kettle, toaster, picnic set, iron, blow up mattress etc. to get us thru till our stuff arrived.. you make do with what you can, we did buy a fridge freezer because it's hard to live without one of those
the shippers may want an address, but they understand the situation, if you've booked up something temporary then give them that.. contact them when you get here and you have more details to tell them

We didnt bring any furniture with us at all. We rented a sofa and a fridge for a month, then went out and bought replacements. We still dont own a table but we do have two rather nice trays, chances are we wont buy anything else till we have built and moved into our house!

Failing that - Ikea - they do homestarters packages etc.
