I wondered if it was after some big event. I thought there was a lot of rubbish in the photos but no more than you would find in Trafalgar Sq or Bondi Beach after New Year's Eve.

Little do you realise that all of them pics were taken at 14:30 on a friday afternoon. Just before christmas when all the dole bludgers got there double giro, the sky always turns black on this day when the locals let there hair down.

Just got back from Eagle farm.

It really was like a weight watcher's slapper's convention in the public areas

Fortunately I am a turf club member so I don't have to mix with the hoi polloi

Next meeting is on Monday at Eagle Farm.

I usually drive but it is not far from town

There are meeting most Saturdays and Wednesdays at either Doomben or Eagle farm (which are next door to each other).

That's taken after the Mardi Gras. You can tell by all the milk crates (that people to stand on to get a better view).

Aye, but just like in Cardiff....and Oxford Street, Sydney, and Chapel St, Melbourne and everywhere else.....the magic garbage fairies appear at some point between 3 and 7 am and next morning, no one would be any the wiser!

LOL, we emigrated from Cardiff 4 weeks ago.... now you know why...

Actually we found it to be a fantastic city and I bet that mess was post match mess. The Millenium Stadium is in the centre of the city and when 10s of thousands of people pour through with their snacks and drinks, it's a bloody horrible mess because the bins can't cope. The clean up operation usually starts about 2 hours after the night clubs shut on match day. By the next day, it's sparkling again... well apart from Caroline Street...

Yes, it's still there, they've redeveloped the old brewery into flashy eateries, but right next door is the old Caroline Street, just the same.

I'll never forget the combined smells of hops and fish and chips around there.

I went past the old bus station a couple of months ago. I was surprised to see that they've knocked that all down now.
