A nice surprise for your OH!

This is a thread to share stories about surprising your other half with something nice. I'll go first. :)

A few years ago, while we were still in the UK, I told Mrs Stampede that I had booked a nice romantic weekend away for us both. She eagerly packed her bags and waited for Friday... Friday came, and we set off. After we'd been driving for some time, I "revealed" that we'd be spending the weekend in Wolverhampton!

My recollection of the next 5 minutes is somewhat blurred, but I do recall trying to calm her with soothing phrases such as "I thought we could save money by buying junk food at the Pound Shop in the Wulfrun Centre..." and "If you keep hitting me, I might lose control of the car."

She started to perk up when I drove past Wolverhampton, and was all smiles when I genuinely revealed that we'd be spending 3 nights at a 5 star B&B in Shropshire.

I phoned her yesterday to say that I'd been awarded National Service Technician of the year, with a cool 5k cash in my pocket. That put a smile on her face.

For my OH's birthday 2 years ago I bought a tall, art-deco style lamp for the entrance hall in the shape of a mermaid. The mermaid held a sort of wide bowl over her head which you had to screw the lightbulb into, hence the bowl part had a hole in the middle. I took off the bowl and wrapped it up in tissue paper and put it in a box and then wrapped it in birthday paper. When he opened it I pretended to look very pleased with myself and said it was a fruit bowl. He made such a good effort at looking delighted (because he hates to hurt my feelings)! When he asked why it had a hole in it I said it was a second, but that once we had some fruit in it, it wouldn't show! I let him "gush" over it for a few more minutes before telling him it belonged with a beautiful lamp!

Re: A nice surprise for your OH!

Back in September I was at one of my OH's work colleagues Baby Shower, not my scene at all as I'm not into anything baby related. Anyhoo, the games were fairly good craic and we had a bit of a giggle! Towards the end of the party I received a text from the OH telling me I was going to love him forever as he'd bought me something!?! I thought, WHAT ON EARTH HAS HE DONE....anyhoo eventually I got home and heard him shouting from the bedroom that my present was in the pantry...so I opened the door only to find a lovely jovely 32 gb WIFI iPad! I'd wanted one for ages but was gonna wait til my tax return had come through! He's so generous, sometimes too much so, in saying that though, he's not the best at showing me how much he cares in tactile/emotional ways, so I guess the gift buying is his way of expressing his feelings, and hey, who am I to complain!? lol

On my 30th birthday i wanted to go out and have a big night on the tiles with our friends. I set about calling them and for a range of reasons none could make it as i had left it too late to try and arrange things. I am a bit of a last minute person. Anyway the night of my birthday and two of our friends said they could make it.

I was actually pretty peeved still but tried to put on a good face. My better half suggested the four of us go for a meal. I wasnt that keen, but she twisted my arm and we decided upon a little place i like that was well known for game. Anyway, we made our way to town and walked into the restaurant to be greeted by all our friends sat at a huge table and each with presents. She had spent weeks arranging it and i never suspected a thing. She had even arranged a massive birthday cake that was brought out for desert. Then tickets for everyone to a local club. Fantastic night from a fantastic girl

Another favourite is phoning him up at work and telling him I have a flat tyre or summit and need him to come home at lunchtime to fix it and then jumping him when he walks through the door....

His boss reckons i'm the unluckiest motorist in the world...

Best way to really surprise her, is to jump up in the middle of the night as if in a panic and hurriedly start getting dressed.... saying "Shit your Husband is home"....

Try that one ;)
