HI,
I think Computer professionals shouldn't be worry because
it will take 12 months for processing in case of 175
might be more early in case of 176

Re: New Processing Priorities for GSM and Business Visas - Effective 23 September
Immigration site
Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS)
•
Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS)
•
General Skilled Migration (GSM) visas except for:
o
Skilled – Recognised Graduate Subclass 476
o
Skilled – Designated Area – Sponsored (Residence) Subclass 883
o
Skilled – Regional Subclass 887.
This mean all the VISA 175 and 176 is group
now for priorty
applications from people who are neither nominated nor sponsored but whose nominated occupation is listed on the CSL
it is on number 4 just below the state sponser just like before so donot expect much change here
Time line answer
Q10 How long will it take for my application to be finalised if my nominated occupation is on the CSL?
If you have applied for an onshore or offshore GSM visa and your nominated occupation is on the CSL, it is estimated that your application will be finalised within 12 months from your lodgement date.
In my openion timeline for IT professional will be reduced.

A month back there was lot of noise that there will be Major changes in processing priorities/ some bill being discussed in Australian Senate. Is it the one which happened today?
Or something looms in October also

Also I meant to phrase it as a question rather than a statement.

Re: New Processing Priorities for GSM and Business Visas - Effective 23 September
hi there i was wondering if someone could shed some light on this for me. I have state sponsor MODL not CSL and we have a case officer they requested us to do all meds and police checks etc. I have also got to go to court for my step daughter.Going to cost us about 6 grand. And our agent has told me we could be still here in 2012 is this right. Surely they have got to process people with case officers so far in the process (we applied Nov 08)
PS If you listen hard enough you may here a grown man cry!!!

You have absolutely right, only the first 3 groups enjoy priority processing:
1. applications from people who are employer sponsored under the ENS and the RSMS
2. applications from people who are nominated by a State/Territory government and whose nominated occupation is listed on the Critical Skills List (CSL)
3. applications from people who are sponsored by family and whose nominated occupation is listed on the CSL
Not sponsored or nominated CSL applications are unlikely to finalised before the end of 2011 (onshore) or the end of 2012 (offshore).

I've spent a long time in Australia in the past, there is a strong culture of giving everyone a "fair go", to do this retrospectively is totally unfair IMHO. By all means change the rules for new applicants, who have not yet committed time and money to the process, but not to those who've put in lots of both in good faith.

Where does it state that only the first 3 groups enjoy priority processing?
Given that the numbers that would be in the first 3 categories are likely to be low, dont think it will affect me adversely. I cant imagine why someone would have applied for SS as well as CSL up to now, or family sponsorship and CSL, therefore if not too many people in 1-3 categories, then not too long to wait for CSL applications.

Re: New Processing Priorities for GSM and Business Visas - Effective 23 September
I am on the CSL with no SS or family sponsorship. I read in the FAQ section that being CSL, this will be processed in around 12 months from date of application.

The column "Priority Processing" is marked with #, which means:
Applications which fall into the first three priorities.
