Re: New Processing Priorities for GSM and Business Visas - Effective 23 September
Hello...
I am confused here. Reading the FAQ booklet, I do not know where I am standing at.
I am state-sponsored, not on csl, offshore. Case officer requested medicals and PCC in August 2009.
Question 12 says : no csl, no priority.
Question 17 says : state sponsored will receive " Lower priority".
Does " Low priority" mean visa grant in 2012?
Any commect would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ahmad

Classic goal post move!
We have CO. Everything reads "Met" on our '176 non CSL' online status apart from the OZ Police check which we didnt know I needed. That is due back within the next 2 weeks or so, but now when it comes back our CO may just file us under lower priority for another few more months!!!
Urrgh!

175 also effective right?
how about ongoing 175 application?
2012 is too far from now

Being heavily discussed here http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=632120, might be an idea to post the link there for additional perspective

Hi Feri,
No you can't convert a 136 to a 138. With state sponsorship it could be converted to a 137 but that doesn't seem to have much advantage now. A second application if DIAC agrees to process you with a deemed lodgment date of the initial application might work, but expensive.
Cheers,

Though I do have a case officer assigned since 2 weeks not I am afraid about how long it'll take to process
thanks in advance

Hi Polly,
It seems there has been a lot of hysteria since I last saw this thread. Putting it into perspective, anyone applying for a general skilled migration visa should be prepared for a 12 month wait as priorities shift. Previously these priorities always existed and were never announced, and the major shift seems to be that those who were on the CSL list and had a 12 month wait will now have a shorter wait while those off the CSL but state sponsored will be the lowest priority among the priority cases.
The big losers are still those with no CSL and no state sponsorship.
Bearing in mind also that it would be very, very difficult to run a program with seven queues, obviously some jobsworth sold the Minister on that one as a work creation/empire building solution.
I would suggest freezing the thread until the text of the Minister's direction is available, I haven't seen that yet and I'm sure it will answer, or leave unanswered, all relevant questions.
Any person who is state sponsored already and outraged by this decision should be contacting their sponsoring state, the states will have more leverage than you will personally.
Cheers,
George Lombard

This new ruling is just silly, they should be running alongside. how can it be fair that the guy from 2007 will have to wait for some joker who might apply in 2011. the immigration process needs to be done properly, as that guys said driving a taxi coz he cant get a job in the skill he applied for which was a CSL!!!
