New to OZ...!

Hello there,

Have moved to Australia from the UK a couple of weeks ago and I'm really homesick!!! Don't think the Christmas period helped much either... I've just found this site and I'm hoping someone may be able to tell me it's normal to be in such a gorgeous place and want to leave it....

Help!!!

Sarah

It seems very normal for the Christmas period to hit hard in that way.

I was living in Brighton for the last 6 years, so I suppose that's where I'm from...! Also lived in Norwich, Hull, Portsmouth, Grimsby...! Where are you from? Have you been here a while??

Are you here alone?

Get yourself on the girls night out - 20th Jan I think. Look on a few pages for the thread. Meet some new people and start looking forward to the rest of your life.

Hope the homesickness passes soon.

Binbird

I should add that you will find the thread I referred to in the lifestyle and culture forum proper, not here in crazyville!

Thanks Binbird!!! Yes I have made the big move by myself... I know a few of my parents friends here. They're nice but they're not up for going out... Will look out for this girls night out.

Cheers!

HI there
We were in the exact same position as you several years ago. I was so homesick we came back after only three months. We are now in the process of re-applying to go back to Aus. Please stick it out and try to get involved with some groups and post some info on this site. I wish I had when we were there in 1997/98, keep your chin up.

Chin up smemes. You will find loads of people here who will listen to what you have to say and make some helpful suggestions. Of course you will find loads of others who make loads of unhelpful suggestion but it is all mainly in good fun  I hope you start to feel more settled soon. Perhaps you could join a club, or get a dog or even run around naked! That should soon get people talking to you :D
