Default New job at 62 !

I'm about to find out whether a local with insider knowledge can get casual work at age 62. Want to work casual so I can pay for holidays and not touch my super.

Redundancy Package almost certainly locked in now... find out Sunday. I've got a lot of irons in the fire. So lets see.

This will be damn interesting. I can definitely be a lollipop man, not sure about that one. Pay is 360 bucks take home a fortnight and your locked in for 1.5 hours per day during school terms.

I may well give the Amazon people a call, see if I can find shifts that make driving to and from Dandenong to the North easy. Fairly confident they would want me, distance from job excepting.... plus I can have a crack at subversively unionising the place, if needs be

Will give the unions a ring for some of their ticketed work. Traffic control/spotting etc etc.

Got a mate that reckons I can get a job, like his, driving cash in hand at the Fruit Market between the Market and places in the country. 4AM starts tho... I wont be talking much about that one if it happens LOL. Plus I don't have a LR license ...Yet

Looking at Patient transport as well, but that's a 12 week course, still that pays above 30 bucks per hour. Know people that work in that field who assure me I will get work if I complete the course. Bit concerned about the job offers/availability V my wanting lots of time off for that one.

No way I can get any government benefit/new start, which I'm not after or looking for, obviously I'd take it if there was, but my Wife is fully employed so we don't need it.

So lets see if there really are jobs out there for the older person in the current Australian market. Albeit casual.

Course there are (casual jobs for older people). Are you into DIY? Try Bunnings type stores. Real estate? Some agencies employ people on an ad hoc basis to staff home opens, property viewings etc. I think you're currently employed by Oz Post, Ozzie? Look on SEEK for government depts. offering casual work or temp contracts. Disability or aged care support worker - not all the jobs are physically onerous, some are just to provide social support and many agencies offer on the job training.

If all else fails, you could start your own business! Washing windows or dogs (windows are easier, they don't bite), painting house numbers on kerbs so emergency services can find places more easily (need Council permission for that one) - you're only limited by your imagination.

Good luck for the news you want on Sunday

Not into DIY in anyway shape or form, shame would have come in handy right now. Not into housework either, I've seen the writing on the wall re the housework...so I'm definitely looking for another job....rather that than have my wife asking questions everyday

I like that numbers on the kerb idea as a job, not heard of anyone doing that before...although I have seen them painted on kerb.

That social service work is a good tip as well, I'd enjoy that.

Start your own business. Come to the bright side of politics.

Setting up AV equipment for fellow older people has a market.

Didn't think they bothered with it any more. Not seen brightly painted kerb numbers in years. All faded away completely around here anyway.

Good luck with finding something that suits.

Freelance Postal Chaser.

For a small fee you will jump up and down on auspost, or other delivery company, heads and make sure parcels that haven't been delivered, have gone missing, or are just wandering the system, get delivered to the house promptly.

Bonus if you can find a way of making the delivery companies pay for their incompetence.

Plenty of demand, expertise, and can do it from home.
