Hello Lovely BE Peeps!

We arrived in Perth Yest...looking for a car now! Can we get finance for a new car without a job as we want to start a credit rating really! Otherwise any other advice will be brilliant! Cheers, Lisa,xx

I would imagine you would find it extremely hard. No jobs yet, no fixed Aussie address, no Aussie I.D etc. Either hire one or buy a banger outright for the time being.

WHen we arrived in Perth we used our friends address.. went and got our driving licences and then went and bought a car (well, we were travelling so it was a motor home).. didnt use finance so that wasnt an issue for us.. I do remember, I think, that you need to have a driving licence first as they want that number for the reggo forms? From memory...

Hello Lisa !

there are no credit ratings as such over here... It is very different from the uk. There is no need to build up a credit rating to prove to people that you are good at repaying debt. Instead, you simply need to demonstrate that you are earning sufficient $$$ and can afford to repay whatever loan you are after.

So there's no point in getting a car on finance if its to get a credit rating !

Better to just buy one outright if you can.

Yeah, you'll need your WA license.

We just bought a used one, in great shape, still has 2 years of factory warranty. We bought it outright, so no financing.

Check around the used car lots and you should be able to find something that suits you.

thanks for all of the replies! We have bought a used Grand Cherokee Jeep....think I've been conned though (by my husband!) as I was under the illusion that this car was for ME!!! Anyway, paid for it outright...crappest exchange rate EVER!!! But nothing ever goes our way where money is conserned so i'll just have to let that go!
Got the Jeep from a Brit up in Wangara at Prindiville Drive Autos....good buy with 12months warranty!
Just need jobs, house and school now!!
