Nappies

Can anyone recommend nappies? I used Pampers in Scotland, but can't get them here! I've found all the nappies are designed for skinny babies, which my little one isn't. I've tried Huggies, Wiggles (babylove) and Sorbies, but they are all really tight and leave a lot extra hanging under his bum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. In in WA if that makes any difference!

Hi!I recommend you use cloth nappies! My kids (aussies and now grown up)only ever had cloth, which I used for eco reasons!Do you have a laundry room? You can pick up cheap nappy buckets (from Big W)soak the nappies overnight and hang out on the hoist!Won't take long to dry this time of year either!Sorry can't help with the disposables!

I can thoroughly recommend Aldi's 'Mamia' range of nappies...

if you have Aldi in W.A that is?

dunno about the skinny bum bit, but they're heaps better than Huggies :0)

jan3kids is right, my oz wife used to buy them in uk aldi's and I have noticed they sell the same ones in aldi here.
Considering they arent a big name brand they are very good and great value.

I used cloth exclusevly on my 1st child but that was in canada and Im not too sure I would use them in oz with the temperature being much hotter. It was bad enough having to empty the nappie bucket in a cold basement, Id hate to think of what it would smell like after sitting all day in 40+ temps in the laundry room.

I don't think they have Aldis in WA.
I would've thought that if you go up a size for comfort round the waist that it wouldn't matter too much about a bit hanging down under the bum as long as they fit tightly enough round the legs.
Anyway, if you can't stomach cloth naps, there are some fitted cloth naps on the market that do up like disposables. I think they may be a more generous fit.

No Aldi in WA. Have you tried any of the supermarket own brands? They are generally made by the main manufacturers, but may be different shapes (if that makes sense). My girls couldn't wear Pampers, but their bums fitted Somerfield's own perfectly. May be the same here. (not sure any of that made sense but it did in my head :D It's early).

Re: Nappies

I spend my life trialling nappies. Here are my faves:

Select Woolworths - These are great, thin nappies but hold everything in well. Because they are thin they dont push their legs out. My babies arent thin and I find these fit well - easily my first choice. I tried them after they won a CHOICE (like uk which) award.

huggies - ok in baby and above toddler. Toddler I find the crystals come out. Cost more than other nappies but are good quality- if a bit stiff. My oldest will leak in the night as they arent wide enough but she has stopped wearing at age 4 so maybe I was just at the end of it.

Woolworths home brand - cheapies but still better than most others.

Babylove - slightly not as good as black and gold but ok. When they fill they can get a bit like bricks in the middle.

Brands I stay away from because for mine, they either leak or just dont do it: Snugglers, Cosy something in a yellow packet, black and gold in a yellow packet, coles homebrand

I usually end up buying woolworths select when they are $50 for 2 boxes or huggies when they are 2 boxes for $60. Both are fine, with huggies being a bit small

Also the select are unisex which is good for me as I just buy the same size for everyone as my head hurts trying to maintain different piles of nappies everywhere

I always bought Pampers for the kids in Canada and here I found Snugglers to be the closest match.

I ended up switching over to huggies though because they have the pull ups for my 2 year old, the ones you can undo and redo at the sides if needed.

Oh hello again :) I've just left you a message on BW, didn't realise you were on here!

Sorry not much help with the nappies but don't buy the mega cheap ones, they are worse than the ones here :( I needed a few to tie us over to get home & didn't want to buy a pack of huggies to try & fit in the suitcase, I was so relieved we didn't actually need them on the flight as they were hopeless.

Also you can get pampers online - I always used pampers in the uk. Beware these pampers are not the pampers you are used to. They are from indonesia or somewhere and are worse than anything else.

I was so excited (sad as I am) when I first found them.

I would defo try the select woolworths ones, you will be surprised I am sure. They are cheap but they are really good. My guys never get leaky, crystally, loose fit bum!

We use the 'Mamia' nappies from Aldi. They are very good and we also think that the Australian animal that is shown on each nappy provides our child with some welcome encouragement to put them one (at times).
