Hi guys - can anyone shed some light on this plant i have growing in my garden please? I have always called it a banana palm but apparantly it may not be? It is the first time it has flowered and i was getting excited thinking i may be getting some home grown bananas??????

It's the giant variety of Bird of Paradise flower.
