My First Alcohol Free Day In over 2 yrs
No I've not turned over a new leaf and no I'm not an old alky.
Following on from a thread I read the other day and a conversation by the fire we had last night I've just drunk water all day. Since we arrived nearly 2 1/2 yrs ago it's been the same routine: I get in from work, shower, open a stubbie and have a read of my emails etc.
Weekends we sit outside with mates and have a few home brews or a bottle of wine. During the week I rarely have more than a couple of stubbies a night yet couldn't remember the last time I'd gone all day without a beer or wine.
For those of you living here do you find you drink more since arriving?
Do you have a drink everyday?
Do you make a point of having an alcohol free day each week/month/year?
I should do a poll but I'm a poll virgin

Actually we were saying the other day how quite often we come in from work and crack a stubby while we're making dinner or whatever. It's just nice to have a cold beer when you come in from the heat I guess. I do however try not to drink through the week (and make up for it on a weekend ) but I've done this for a long time anyway. Overall I think I possibly drink a little more here but not significantly so.
PS Let me know what question / responses you want and I'll add the poll for you

perhaps abcdiamond has some stats that would show the effect on the health of aussies if its a common occurence - do australians have a higher rate of liver disease than any other country?
cant say ive ever seen any evidence to suggest this, but might go and have a look see

Aside from the macho beer is good thing, I'll be honest and say that the title of this thread I would personally find quite worrying if it were me.
I enjoy a drink as much as the next person from time to time and probably once a week but to say that I've drunk every day for the last couple of years I think would bring into question my overall long term health.

Health wise many docs advocate drinking a glass of red wine a day as being beneficial to your health. Drink for drink the red wine has a higher alcohol content than a single stubbie of midstrengh beer.
I guess working in the heat and drinking approx 4/5 litres of water a day [there's usually a bit left in the cooler] I just reach for a stubbie instead of more water.

No matter how much you drink, if you start to question it, I often think you may already have a problem.
That problem only rears it's ugly head when you try to cut down or stop.
I had an issue with alcohol for years, but finally became free in September.

Not really a spirit drinker, but I do enjoy beer, cider and white wine (not all in the same glass though )
While in the UK I am consuming vast amounts of cider, to make the most of the stuff!
I try and keep off the red wine as it gives me strange dreams.....mostly about chipmunks milling around in the road looking lost - goodness knows why!
