Aloe Vera gel seems to keep my kids happy. It's cooling on the mossie bite.

I can very highly recommend http://www.itchezeplus.com.au/

It's excellent - I have a bad reaction to bites and end up with welts if I scratch. This stuff stops the itch and really reduces inflammation. I certainly don't get bitten anywhere near as much now as when I first arrived - maybe only once or twice a year now - but I still hate being itchy!

By the way, who has been tested/diagnosed for Ross River Virus (or Barmah Forest)? Both my mother and I have been tested and told we have had Ross River (from mossies) .... you just have to wonder how many other folk are out there being bitten by these infection carrying insects.

Well there's you and yer mum fer sure

I guess we'll just have to wonder about the number of other 'victims'..............unless ABC comes up with a definitive answer

ps I believe that almost all insects are capable of carrying infection.................even Pommie ones

Thanks everyone.

In the end I used tea tree oil on the bite, but am happy to give some of the other things a try

The bites are till bright red after 4 days. Still a bit sore but itching has gone.

Vitamin B works.

Vitamin C is a natural antihistimine.

Both these vitamins work well if taken before and after a drinking session to avoid a hangover.

Mozzies love people who eat bananas.

Mozzies follow carbon dioxide - which we emit. Mozzie coils and candles etc. cover the carbon dioxide. Apparantly.
I like to eat crushed vitamin B tablets in banana just to f*@# with the mossies heads.
