When is it? My Mum get harder to buy for each year. Flowers just don't do it for he anymore as her best friend is a florist and her place looks more like a floral display each week. Ideas anyone?

March 26th.

I was thinking of doing a gift basket for my mum with a variety of things like A bottle of wine, chocolates, cuddly toy etc....

I have done it for her before and she loved it but I want to put different things in it this time but am struggling with what to put in there

I'm still peeved at missing my second mother's day last year. 'Im indoors had two father's days!!

Ah well - just grateful for the daughter who makes me a mum in the first place. Some are not so lucky.

On this thread, I'd like to send very big hugs to those of you facing your first Mother's Day without your mum. It's a bitch - I still can't get used to not having mine. I know there are several of you facing this for the first time this year, so thinking of you.

Ditto to that.

This is my second and I'm still going to have a hard time of it. But not as much as the first.

That sounds like a fantastic idea - I do wish I'd had the imagination to do something like that. How about a small bottle of perfume too? I used to appreciate Tescos for small cuddly toys that didn't cost the earth....

What is nice, if you can find one, is one of those dedicated *Mother* books. Some of the card shops in the UK used to do them, but I guess bookshops would too.

I hope you didn't take my post as implied criticism Jessica - it wasn't intended that way. It just reminded me of the opportunity to send thoughts to those who have lost their mums lately and I'm afraid I used it. Sorry for hijacking your very worthwhile thread.

I felt very sick when I read this, nothing to do with the thread itself, just the realisation that I dont have a mum anymore and it still smacks like a punch whenever I see certain things. Its two months on the 26th Feb.

But to all those with Mums who are looking for ideas for Mothers Day, you dont have to spend a penny.

Its how you say it that counts.

Not at all Sue, It just made me realize that I hadnt considered other peoples feelings when I posted the thread. Your comments were very nice.

I have bought my mum one of those Mothers books already but I could get her a different one. Thanks for the idea of the perfume, its a brilliant suggestion, there is a perfume shop nearby and they do sell Mini perfumes for you to try as a tester so I could get one of those too

Thank you for your ideas Sue x
