Try The Potato Factory sometime, my all time favourite novel, beautiful descriptions of Hobart and a wonderful tale about the real-life Fagin.
I'm not so smitten on some of his later books, but the Tasmanian ones, Four Fires, Jessica, Tandia....those are worth reading over and over.
