Haven't had one this year, haven't missed them either. Lady's Fingers are still cheap here as are the cooking bananas. It's just your common ones that are stupidly priced.

Ahhh well ladies fingers are a very nice banana smaller and more delicate than your average monkey fodder. I don't think you can get them in the U.K you certainly can't get the cooking bananas there. They're nice to, you can use them just like potatoes, basically a starch rich fruit, they make excellent chips.

have just received an email from my MIL telling me that she has just bought about 20 bananas from Tesco for 66p!

that's ridiculously cheap, makes you wonder if the farmers are getting a fair price.....but that's a whole new thread

The only ones who get a fair price are the blokes who sell their fruit via Fair Trade organisations, or via private agreements with ethical companies.

Haven't bought bananas in a while. Last banana thing I bought was a carton of banana custard with 5% guaranteed real banana in it! Cost me 70c on a reduced price quick sale.
