rumours can be monged :p as in rumour-monger. So can scandals Scandalmonger

And' of course there is "costermonger" - a fruit vender - in Shakespeares "Henry IV".

FYI

Monger - "Dealer, Trader, Merchant." Also seen as a verb form, "to sell, deal." This generally connotes the sale or promotion of something undesirable, illegal or of low social status. The term has had negative connotations since at least the 16th century. It derives from the Middle English and Anglo-Saxon "manger" = "dealer, merchant." The word was commonly used in compounds, as in the Middle English "fischmangere" = "fishmonger, fish dealer." It is related to the Anglo-Saxon "mangung" = "trade, commerce." It exists today mainly in compounds, such as "whoremonger."
There you go, whore monger, thats another one!

'Scaremongering' is a tactic used by some unscrupulous people to upset or cause turmoil.

ie; Tony and his WMD. Hes a scaremonger.
