Mixed Marriages.... Antipodeons and Brits

I'm just curious as to which way round this works the best, or whether there is a difference between marrying Aussies and Brits to marriages within their own fellow compatriates. Personally I dont think there is.

Except for one thing, I've an idea, although I could be wrong that more British Men Marry Aussie Women, than British Women marrying Aussie men.

So I thought I'd test the Theory on here. For purposes of this thread Kiwis and Irish can join in as long as they dont mind ticking the poll boxes.

Just thought I'd add one embarrasing thing my Aussie wife did when we met all those years ago... I met her when she was just 20 years old... been together over 31 years now. When she first came to England, she was a full on provincial Aussie. Hated wearing shoes in otherwords. On one of our first outings out, just checking out the shops in Peckham, she insisted on going barefoot... no amount of protest from me would stop her... Thankfully she only did it the once. Anyone got any other embarrasing tales from the other side ;)

Back to the Poll

Who marries who the most.

I voted on behalf of my big sister who married an aussie - 20 something years together now. She emigrated here in 1986 to be with him and is aussie in everything except skin quality. :)

I voted on behalf of an irish girlfriend who met an aussie in London in '87 and moved to Aus. to be with him. They married in '92 and are still together, despite him having an 'eye for the laydeez.';)

When I was first dating my wife, she got drunk one night, asked me if I wanted to come to Australia, have kids, dogs and Chooks. She then promptly fell off the bar stool.

Well I came out here, we have dogs and chooks but no kids and have been married for over 12 years.

I voted on the basis that I married hubby who has an Australian birth certificate. However he was brought up British because that's what he is:D

Hee hee! My Aussie hubby says I more Aussie than him, except I insist on "roasting" rather than "baking" the chook!

Well I'm the Pom and he's the Aussie. Met him in London when he went there 8 years ago (he was just meant to go for one year, but then met me!).

Now we're married, living in Brisbane and really happy

I'm Australian, my husband was born in England, but has spent most of his life in Australia and considers himself Australian.
