"When I've seen the mistake after mistake he's made - I can't say I'd kill him because it would just spoil the point of him being back," Mr Cass said.

"I'm going to kick his arse - the millions that have been spent on this search, the man hours and woman hours that have gone into it .. all because he goes out on a walk without his mobile phone.

"The only teenager in the world who goes on a 10 mile hike and leaves his mobile phone behind."

Mr Cass said he understood why it had taken so long to find his son, with visibility such a problem in the dense bushland.

"I was told there were 50 guys with yellow jackets out there looking for him - I saw one of them," Mr Cass said.

"So I can understand how difficult it is to see a stupid kid in a dark blue jacket walking under the trees.

I have a feeling his dad is never going to let the boy forget this

I agree with the father actually!Apparently Jamie was an experienced trekker, hiker?Don't know how true that is,but if he had of been, surely it makes sense to yes take the mobile, know the terrain, take provisions ect?I think he originally started off on a short walk though and got carried away somewhat? Not a good idea!Anyway I'm glad he was found safe and sound, thats the main thing!

I'm a cynic by nature and that is the first thing that crossed my mind when I heard he had been found and had survived 11 days by eating grass and seeds.

It reminds me of the Brisbane hiker that got "buried" in a snow-cave in the Himalayas for about the same period of time, with only a couple of Mars bars to eat. No sooner had he been "found", than the publicity agents were lining up tv interviews etc, though at a price, as well as getting his ambulance a police escort to the Royal Brisbane Hospital. Alot of people thought it was a stunt.

He does look in very good condition for having been out all that long even allowing for a bath and a scrub etc.

Re: MISSING BRITISH BACKPACKER FOUND ALIVE!!!

Last I heard was that the family have said that all money made from the story would go to the rescuers. If that's true and I have no idea either way, it would negate the assumption that the event was a con. I was also reading that doing that long without food, but with having water, provided you were fit and healthy which he was, there would be little or no health implications once the person had had a couple of good nights sleep.

He is a very lucky boy..

If it had been December or January I don't think he would have lasted as long!!
