mining vs construction
I've been doing research into the effects of mining and construction on the Australian environment, and it's not great news peeps. Let me start by giving a brief outline of what has been happening out west
WA is being emptied of iron ore at an alarming rate, by the end of next year rio tinto alone will be shipping 353 million tonnes per anum to China, with BHP and FMG doubling this figure if you add their output together. On the east coast however, we are seeing massive investment in building and infrastructure, in 2012 alone a massive 172.5 million tonnes of concrete was poured, 398 million tonnes of bricks used, and 476 million tonnes of steel erected. These are based on figures from QL, NSW and Vic. The only infrastructure to have gone in in WA in the same time period was a bus shelter in Geraldton. This has led me to coduct tests on sea levels on both coasts, and here's the really alarming bit, sea levels on the east coast have risen by 357mm over the last 5 years, and in the same period WA sea levels have dropped by almost exactly the same amount. To put it into laymans terms for the mods and others of below average intelligence, Austrailia my unlearned friends is tipping into Pacific, if it continues at the current rate Sydney will be underwater by 2100, and Perth will be famous for its cliffs not beaches. We need to take action now, before it's too late |

this one aint exactly setting the world alight, would it help if I informed you that early indications are that gays, muslims and boring perth folk seem to be the main culprits?
