Mini flies - trillions of them!
On the few warmer days we've had here lately it seems that the sun has brought out a whole host of teeny weeny little flies from, I think, my loft. They are walking all over the family room wall that has the sun shining on it, are all over the kitchen ceiling but once it gets cold in the evening they just seem to die off and drop to the floor. They are sort of midge size and although I know they can fly they seem too lerthargic to bother and just walk everywhere. What the hell are they and how can I get rid of them?

We had an infestation like that last year. I looked up at the ceiling and nearly died off, it was absolutely crawling with these things. Next day they were all dead and we had to do a big clean up.

Re: Mini flies - trillions of them!
are they ants with wings? this happens in wet winter time they produce loads of queens ready to fly off.
bomb your house it's the same as the bug man...buy them in the supermarket set atleast 4 off in one go then leave the house all day. when you get back opwn all the windows and doors damp dust and vaccum. it works every time.you'll be amazed what is living in your house good and bad. |

I read that to mean a small car becoming airborne :D We've got ants that walk up one of the support posts at the front of the car port and go into the loft too. The only other thing my brain suddenly came up with was if they might be some kind of mini mossie nesting in the damp pads of our evap air con. Hubby is off into the loft tomorrow to set a couple of bombs in their and then a couple in the house as well. Lets hope it's a nice day as the dogs will be getting a mammoth long walk from the sounds of it :D |

Re: Mini flies - trillions of them!
We get them, they are known around here as Fruit Flies. They were pretty bad a couple of months ago when the grapes were being picked, since then they've calmed down. Hope this helps.
