Midlife crisis

I think I'm having a midlife crisis...

40 didn't seem like a big deal in the run up to it.... but now I'm wrinkly, overweight and my skin aint so great...

I wake up in the morning tired and am just not satisfied with how I look and what I'm doing and who I am .... I spend too much time looking back at decisions I made and didn't make and thinking about how I have wasted much of my life...

I think it started last week with the optician telling me I would need reading glasses within a year. and not to bother with the contacts (I did anyway)

I would have plastic surgery now if I won silly money on the lotto.... and book into a health farm to loose the extra baggage.... AND get my teeth done...

Then I would start doing worthwhile things... what has life come to?

Re: Midlife crisis

I have become more insecure about myself since moving.

The people I work with are continually talking about dieting, weight and exercise amongst themselves.

Its not that I feel a need to compete because I have enough issues with myself to take on anyone elses.

But I have realised that when I went on about my weight in the UK I didnt realise how boring the subject is. Now I have to listen to talk about weight, calories, doing silly amounts of exercise, my god have I learned to stop talking about it myself.

However, I dont have the confidence I had in London for some reason and feel incredibly self consious when blokes yell things at me when I am in town (they do it to everyone).

I know what you mean about having silly money to have plastic surgery, if I had silly money then yes I would do it - but then Ive always said that.

Im starting back with my Yoga tonight, my work pal is coming with me and Im trying to do stuff to boost my confidence.

Mid life crisis? Perhaps it is:eek:

Australia is so great for sport, join a team or club and you'll feel lots better than you would after surgery (my friend had liposuction and believe me, it ain't pretty). In all those cosmetic surgery ads they look better mainly because they've had a hair cut and got some nice new make-up; so treat yourself as even living at a spa would be cheaper and much less dangerous than surgery. The woman who wrote 'First Wives Club' died during a facelift, now that's something to regret more than a few wrinkles.

Let's extrapolate this further, how about 76 year old Carmen Dell'Orefice?
