What a bizarre article. The bloke seems to be saying that if you export more than you import then you're subsidising the people you export to. That would make China one of the biggest benefactors in the world.

Update: I've found news that the Brazilians are planning a landing strip in Tassie. The problem though, is it leads into a wet gully. It's almost like they are hoping you'll slip in there.

The development of Melbourne and Victoria wasn't influenced by convicts. There was a small convict settlement at Sorrento that failed. Melbourne and most Victorian towns were established after this by free settlers, (including some from Tasmania ).
