Can't help notice The Chairman and Sutton and all the other hangers on in Vic are in desperate need of a haircut.
And all those hairdressers on job keeper and seeker being paid for by the rest of Australia due to those clowns making decisions in Victoria.
Open up Victoria. It's now beyond a joke.

Re: Melbourne Metro restrictions
Gone are the days where we can blindly accept what we read in the papers and magazines. In fact I don't think we ever could - but we did, and some people still do, it seems. These days "professional" journalism is so poor and biased it has precious few of the qualities you've mentioned above. It's not about being bothered to read and write. We now have more options for consuming information and people no longer trust journalists to tell them the truth - and they don't have to anymore. So they have turned to also watching real real life events like YouTube channels, web sites and another sources of information - video captured on peoples mobile phones, or conversations and opinions between normal people - and from people who have developed reputations they know and trust. As for fact checking - no matter how we consume news and opinion we need to independently fact check it ourselves - don't trust a source to feed you their news and opinion, and to fact check as well.

are hardly relevant but getting on top of the virus certainly was.
The results speak for themselves. I don't see any clowning either. Quite the contrary.

My obvious question is are we any better off for that fact though? More likely a proliferation of 'information ' outlets has simply divided public opinion into ever more segments of half truths
and out right lies.(disinformation)

You complain and condemn but have not said what you would have done in a situation that was causing so much illness and death. Haircuts while amusing,

NSW can function on 10-30 cases per day. What makes Vic so special?
I see Dan is furious some kiwis entered Victoria. Fist banging "I will lock it down - It's not fair Kiwis can come to Victoria when Victorians can't move around"
Well Dan, they are your crazy rules.

I would have got Victoria back on its feet once aged care got sorted, the new cases had hit it's peak and was back around 200, and contact tracing was working.

to negative outcomes resulting from virus.
There is no simple ready answer as Europe/UK is finding to its cost again. No point opening if the result is going to be worse further down the road. At least the Victorian Government has made an attempt to go in hard and eradicate as near as possible.
NZ followed similar method, another place you were critical off. But the results there speak for themselves and the PM looks to be reelected with a bigger majority.
Dan had a perfect right to be furious at NZ entrants into Victoria ,especially with no notification from NSW or authorities.

Once aged care got sorted? You are aware aged care in Australia is a disgrace and will only change if ever The Fed's decide to get serious about it. As most will know, it is those of age who are most susceptible
to negative outcomes resulting from virus.

I am totally confused (as I expect you are) by the direction you would prefer to have taken. A USA/Brazil type scenario of denial causing mass death? A UK Bumbling Boris preference?
A Euro type foot in all camps with the end result what we are witnessing?
Quite a win actually. Looks like ALP will be returned to ACT with increased numbers. Arden will rule in own right in NZ, No mean feat under their system of voting. QLD looking to return ALP, as WA.

Nothing of the sort. At least they have experienced a large degree of success. It may or may not last but not for want of trying. You are obviously unable to give a degree of credit for trying.

Don't you think some places don't know how to juggle it all? All - just not a one trick COVID pony.
The stats are pretty simple. NZ GDP down 19%. Australian GDP (even with Vic.out of action) down 10%.

Um err...... You are off on some weird tangent. How come NZ and Victoria have failed economically and their mental health resource requirement explosion when places like NSW are firing?

It could have been so different with The Princess fiasco for one thing. But in the wider world I see little evidence either.
Australian economy is up due to WA bailing the nation out due to a very welcome increase in Iron ore prices. Without that, the nations finances would look rather grim. Sydney firing? How exactly? With immigration tap turned off
to a large extent, international students disappeared, apartment market stumbling, coffee making will only contribute so much in local GST. Pretty much a one trick pony if you prefer it in those terms. NZ will most likely attempt to market its near eradication and combine it with a clean and green image, but whatever they are (government) exceedingly popular with the population. Something Right leaning governments in USA/UK could only dream off. Obviously 'socialist' government intervention will go some ways in places like NSW to slow decline.

Umm err....I see I must spell it out to to you, what is rather obvious. No I don't see any signs of places juggling it all. NSW, a place I suspected you would attempt to highlight has been exceedingly lucky to date.

If you recall, NZ was eradicated once before then stumbled, and had another total lockdown over a handful of cases.
Great to see a load of kiwis emigrating to Sydney in the past few days. Welcome to the land of the free.

Ho Ho. I think you over value what WA provides Australia. 10% outside COVID. Even QLD provides more. However maybe not now with one trick ponies stifling the QLD economy.

As a percentage of GDP. yes WA's contribution is lower than NSW, VIC and QLD, but is higher than your stated 10%.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._state_product - puts it at 13.83%
State product on a per capita basis though sees WA walk all over the other states with the exception of the NT

It would be so much better if you used data to back up your opinions rather than throwing random numbers around.

More importantly WA is 4th on the rung of contributors as you confirm. Memory and beer working in harmony together there.
