Melbourne: The Big Dim Sim?????

So....I'm working down in Melbourne this week in South Melbourne.

Great area with fantastic shops, cafes....all the good Melbourne stuff.

Then today I noticed this advertising on the shopping centre......and sure enough it has a website too:

http://www.bigdimsimdevelopment.com.au/index.php

I'm convinced this has to be a joke??

I can imagine this happening in Surfers Paradise, and I know South Melbourne Market is famous for its Dim Sims, but still......surely not!?

I reckon it's just a fun front page for the South Melbourne Business Association.

Ha, this is so funny. I also work in South Melbourne and saw this sign.
Man, they must be crazy - it looks like a big jobby!!

There were some protest signs the other day about it and I found this on YouTube.

It is a joke - definately. Port Phillip council are so strict they wouldn't dream of doing something so tacky.

You're joking right ? Australia is the land of Giant things

Besides I'm pretty sure this is a joke (I hope). For instance the fmwdevelopments.com.au website does not exist and isn't actually even registered with anyone.

I sent the link to some Mexicans I was on business with down there. They reckon they do the best Dim Sims in the Southern Hemisphere.

Great stuff. I'm always glad to see the people of SA and Victoria acknowledging the Cornish miners who come over, built their mines and launched this economy. To quote one historian in Ballarat, Victoria, "Melbourne would likely not exist if it were not for the wealth generated by the mines the Cornish built". I was less impressed when he referred to my kinsmen as "mostly illiterate", but I guess it could have some basis especially considering the old say "Cornish born, Cornish bred. Strong in the arm, thick in the head"

The south Australian colony was on the verge of collapse, before copper was discovered at kapunda.....this led to a large influx of cornish miners...who built the mines in Burra and the copper triangle on the northern Yorke peninsular.....you still hear a lot of Cornish Surnames in Adelaide........mm;)
