This isn't the 50's though so she could have got out anytime she wanted if it was that bad. He would have had to support her anyway. She seems like a sensible woman - from what I can gather they 'split up' years ago but just kept up the pretence to protect the kids. So who's to say she wasnt dabbling herself. And as for her taking half his fortune surely it is their COMBINED fortune anyway so is in fact costing him nothing - they are simply dividing their assets. fair and square.
I personally think the press should leave them be - imagine if it was your mum and dad splitting up and it was dragged all over the press. They are trying to create a fuss when the Gibsons have specifically said they are going to do this amicably.

Absofreakinlutely. They are being grown up about splitting up and it's the tabloid papers and TV who are dragging up all these "women". The Gibsons have asked for their personal, private issues to be kept just that. Private.

No, not the money - it's the sordid affairs we were all interested in

What Mel Gibson says about the treatment of men in divorce courts
" They can take our Wives but they will never take our fortunes"

I too am surprised she stayed so long. However have to say that he was rather good looking when he was younger so she had the best time to hand on to someone else.

yes l would understand why she would stay with him so long if she would get no money from a divorce, but as she gets half his fortune l'm suprised she did'nt leave him years ago , his probably been sleeping with other women since his lethal weapon days.

Here's a radical thought: Maybe she loved him and maybe, just maybe he wasn't playing around. There was a picture of some celeb the other day apparently with some unnamed guy looking very friendly together and he wasn't her husband. Turned out, shock horror, it was her brother.

Moral of the tale? Don't believe anything you see or hear in the tabloids.

How do you know he dumped his wife for some hot young thing with supermodel looks young enough to be his daughter? Do you know them personally and know their circumstances? Maybe, just maybe SHE was the one shagging hot young things when he was away making movies. Or as Pen says, neither of them was unfaithful and they simply grew apart. It has been known to happen - even in marriages of 28 years or wealthy people.
