Thinking of joining up myself and two children.

Karate, Kung Fu, Jujitsu etc etc.

Anyone recomend a decent club bayside area of Brisbane ?

Wow I am impressed by your grade.

Anyway we do have a few clubs here I have seen them, some are quite big, I am more interested in going to a club where they want to teach you, not where they just want to get you through your gradings so they can charge you for belts, gradings etc.

I found a lot of clubs these days are very money orientated and have no inclination to actually nurture you into a fighting machine

Hi,

I highly recommend Sakurary JuJitsu...

I've trained in the UK for about 5 years and took a while to find a decent club, it's a great friendly club who love good hard, safe training...

It was a real shock coming back though so be warned...I didn't train for 18 months whilst we "settled in" over here and lost all my mat conditioning....but back up there now and loving it..

There are lots of branches around brissie so you are bound to find one near you....kids classes too....

i trained in shotokan karate for over 20 years, 2nd dan black belt, 3rd in the UK championship in, oh so many years ago , i wish i could find a shotokan club in some close proximity to newcastle (nsw). my kids want to start, and i am loathed for them to start some other style, but i fear i have no choice

OH suggested i start my own club, but ................... i've been too long out of it now. it has been brought back up again this weekend in our house, and now this thread.............

why dont you find a club as near as possible to you. go and train for a while then start your own club?
or is there nothing close to you?

nope, nearest is central coast or up towards Forster............both too far away. when i was at my peak (), and was training 7 days a week, i didnt think twice about driving to manchester or liverpool for training. bu that was pre-family/school etc. now, unfortunately, time is very tight. i have thought about this, catching up (because thing change) and then starting the club up, but it is a big ask. we arent even in the centre of newcastle, but port stephens, so it takes us 30 mins to get to newcastle.
