Default Manchester 10k

Hi everyone,

I've signed up to do the Manchester 10k in May but when I've been training my left leg below the knee has been killing me. I've been told I need to get some decent running shoes with good cushioning on the heels, can anyone recommend any?

Cheers

Once you're here in Oz, yo'll be able to go to The Athlete's Foot (big chain of shoe stores) who do posture and gait analysis to work out the best shoe for you. Not much help in the short term though - sorry!

A good pair of colliers clogs will do the trick. You can get them in Failsworth.Have a good run, watch out for potholes.

If you are serious about running any distance, then get some shoes properly fitted at a running specialist.

Athletes Foot Fit Print is better than nothing (they measue the way your foot reacts when walking via a pad, but this is different from when you are running), but I would recommend going to a specialist running stor which will video you on a treadmill and fully assess your needs.

They should not charge you for this service, and some will even swap the shoes free of charge if they turn out to be incorrectly fitting.

Good luck with the training

I think they have Athletes Foot stores in the UK, they're pretty good at finding out what sort of shoes you need - and you don't have to buy them from them, you can go elsewhere to get the best deal.
Athletes Foot here tend to recommend Brooks brand as there is some sort of commission deal going on, but personally wouldn't get them. I find Asics trainers fantastic myself and will always buy them from now on, as they suit my foot - but everyone's feet are different....
