well i've done it..... i've (mostly) conquered my fear of spiders.

I spent yesterday afternoon with Jay from www.jaysanimalencounters.co.uk getting over my irrational spider fear.

have to say it was the most excellent afternoon ever! both me and helen managed to not only sit in the same room as a bloody big spider, but we also managed to catch hold of it and i held it for ages!!!!!!!!!! jay was absolutly excellent and took us through all the different stages getting us used to evil little toy spiders first and then getting us sorted with the big hairy live spider - and everything he said was absolutly right! he really is amazing!

you know i might even go so far as to say spiders rock!!!!

The wife's still saying 'no ****ing way' - but she is a lot better these days - used to not even be able to look at 'em in a book. Nice weddding ring incidentally - understated and cool

Wow! thats amazing! I have saved the website I'm definitely gonna go see him to cure me of my phobia of spiders and snakes before I go t Oz.

thanks hutch!!! ring was handmade by a wifey in orkney.... can't remember the web address but her stuff is beautiful! tell wifey that before yesterday i couldn't look at them in a book without running away and screaming! infact i was exactly like that at 3:45 yesterday afternoon - by 5:15 i was holding that spider! NO SHIT!!!!!!


furkew - i'll be like "hi little guy - how are you????" of course i'll get a fright at first but once my amagdala kicks in says "it's only a spider" i'll be able to deal with it very calmly! i've have alreayd had OH saying - you know we could get one of those chilen rose spiders as a pet!!!!

well done, did you have some hypnotherepy before you held it?

I was exactly the same before I went to the london zoo course, still cant believe I held one and felt ok about it.

I first looked at this thread and thought, yeah great, but I'll bet it's in London or somewhere similar down south - I can't believe it's Edinburgh, Ed Zoo is just 25 mins from us. This is too good an opportunity to miss. I can't even touch the page if there's a draeing of a spider on it, and I've promised myself if we get visas I'm getting it sorted.

Im really worried about my son hes 12 and has a bad phobia of spiders
Might be worth taking him somewhere like that
