Default Life’s Great Mystery No1. Women and Shopping.

What is it with women and shopping?

I just burned a half day of my life walking from shop to shop with my wife as she tried to buy a belt.

Men buy a belt to stop them being arrested when their daks fall down, but apparently for women its part of something bigger.

I was dragged from shop to shop examining what looked like identical belts. None were right. Shape, size, material, all failed to meet the specification.

In the end we didn’t buy one anyway, on the “I don’t like the colour” basis, but we DID by the boots to go with the belt that we didn’t buy. The boots were bloody expensive, and then came the shock announcement “I need to find trousers to go with the boots”.

Is there a guide on how to handle this? Is it just me?

Please do not assume that every woman likes shopping. My tolerance is about one hour max & I have plenty of friends who are the same.
Having spent the afternoon looking at TV's & going back to the first shop we stopped at to buy one, I don't think men are entirely blameless either!

Fair comment - Not all women.

I’m just an in and out shopper. Mind you I dress like an oxfam dummy set up by a visually impaired chimpanzee.

We def needs a pic!

I met a woman a few years ago who loved shopping & her idea of heaven was to wile away an entire morning in TK Maxx searching the overcrowded rails for bargains. Personally, I'd rather have my nails pulled out, one by one!

I hate fricking shopping. Don't care what I've got to buy, I want it to appear magically in my hand or in my house. As for the likes of TKMaxx, hell with chocolate would be preferable. Where is the pleasure in wandering around shop after shop after shop looking at the same shite over and over again?

Totally agree with Sally and MP. I detest shopping, would rather poke my eyes out with sticks. How people can enjoy doing it as a leisure activity is beyond me. I must have missed that 'girly I love shopping' gene when they were handing them out.
Thank god I wear a uniform at work - less clothes I have to shop for!

I’m a walking fashion blunder, the best time of my life was the army, where you just wore the dress of the day.

These days my wife picks my suit, shirt and tie for work.

My wife is Japanese, and from the great consumerism era of Japan. She shops to be happy.

I only shop online or in the UK now; when I'm back home I have two nieces and a sister who use me as a great excuse to get to the shops with dad/husband complaining! Its great, you should hear it...."But Dad, Aunty Polly's here and she NEEDS to go to M&S/Asda/Evans/Clintons/Boots/etc....." and he just smiles and gives in! This trip I think they spent more than I did!!

I never appreciated the joys of shopping though until I didn't have easy access to decent shops

I'm with you Sally. I shop for clothes often because every few months I change sizes and everything is too big. I can't wait to get to my final size. Bunnings though is like heaven for me as my FB friends would know.

I'm another woman who hates shopping. You need way more time and money than I have to really enjoy shopping. I also don't get why women take men shopping with them. If I have to shop, I do it alone, thank-you.

The only fun shopping is op shopping, garage sale shopping or flea market shopping. I do like a bargain collectable, like a piece of shelley or something.
