This short video is very instructive for those uncertain which way to turn, so to speak.

While there may have been a number of interesting points in this, I'm really not sure that I can believe a man who conducts a presentation in his shed while wearing a holstered pistol...

Your belief regarding gays being very modern and marriage very traditional makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever so I'm not going there but why do you think they would want their own thing? The whole point of wanting same sex marriage is because they are human beings, they're not special, they're not a different species, they want and imo should be able to have, the right to do what other people do. They want the right to be able to marry someone they love and want to spend their lives with. Wtf should their marriage be given a different name? Many LGBTs don't want to get married but in the words of Monty Python, they should have the right to do it.

I'd never thought of it that way. I might give it a try but I'll not go as far as marrying him. I've got my scruples to think of.

A valid opposing argument would be religion. It's a valid argument to a person who is religious, which may be dinosaurous in your or my opinion, but not theirs.

If they firmly believe their god doesn't support gay marriage, then we are opening up a religious can of worms.

Your religious rights stop where my rights begin.

You can personally believe in the Great Green Arkleseizure - but in exchange for me laughing rather than giving you a nice tight white jacket you have to keep it to yourself.

I'm curious. What are people thoughts on children growing up in same sex marriages?

One opinion could be it makes no difference. Children grow up in single parent families. Big deal on the dual parent families even if they are the same sex.

Another opinion is that children don't get the benefit of a male father figure or female mother figure.

Yet divorce is ok. Being unfaithful is forgivable. Getting married five or six times is fine if it makes you happy. Religion is not a good enough reason in a multicultural world. It allows hypocrisy way too much for it be used as a reason.

Don't disagree on any of that as a personal opinion.

I think the religious nuts who argue against gay marriages would be the ones who would have the same opinion on adultery and divorce.

But it is an argument of sorts. Especially in some parts of the world.
