It probably depends on how you use a computer, if the problem is just a lack of space, then a laptop will eliminate that problem.
You would soon get used to using a laptop touch pad also, just try out a good few different laptop brands if you are going to go the laptop route, there can be a huge difference in motion response, some can be a bit too quick, other a bit slow etc.

I have to say I actually prefer a touch pad to a trackball. Trackballs are a pain in the arse.

They can, but generally people dont know how to do it, or even know that it can be done, and when going to check out laptops they can be thrown off by the reponse of a touhpad if they are not used to using one.

l used to have a desktop and switched to laptop, laptops far better, just get one of those modem sticks and you can take it anywhere.l don't like using the touch pad so l just plug a mouse in.

I've got both, but I do prefer my laptop, obviously because I can go where I want with it.
I hated the touch-pad at first. I bought a mouse for it, but am so used to the touch-pad now, I never even think of plugging the mouse in.
