We are in Point Cook!

How are you finding it? We all love it here - was a bit difficult with the kids at first though!

Hi-we are leaving for Perth in September-decided to rent out our house for a year-and see what the housing market is doing next year. Our EA reckons that people are putting in offers approx 30-40K below the asking price. We have dropped our price already by and dont wanna just 'give it away'. This means there will be pressure on us getting jobs as soon as-but as I'm a nurse-I am hoping that this wont be too much of a problem!!

Hi Flossie, we are also heading to Perth we go 24th June I am also a nurse and already have a job in Subiaco (I'm neonatal) and we plan to rent our house for the first 12 months too, to help relieve a bit of pressure on you some Perth hospitals are offering up to $20000 relocations costs reimbursement the only tie is that you have to stay for 12 months, but sounds like you plan to do that anyway. We had already planned to stay for 12 months to get a good feel of Ozzie life and we have got the visa by ourselves no agent used, and I arranged the interview myself too so was gobsmacked to get this email on Monday out of the blue saying that we were legible to claim for this package, you can claim for visa costs, flights, shipping, storage, registration costs and 4 wks accomadation, up to a limit of $20000, you get half when you arrive and the other half when you been there 12 months, at least then it hasn't actually cost anything to make the big move and helps take off a bit of financial pressure!!! hope this helps!!!

Hi Siobhan07 I recieved this info from King Edward Hospital and I know Princess Margaret also involved, I thought it was too good to be true but when speaking to those in the know, they tell me it is standard practice when you use an agency, so they all offer something, so if you have a hospital in mind I think you are best to contact them and ask what relocation packages hey offer. How did you go about registering with NBWA thats my next job! Hope this helps!

Hi Dusta, went on line to nursing board western australia, downloaded application forms for registration.
Had to contact nmc again for verification, the forms are self expanatory,
not too bad, need references again not as detailed as skills assement, took approx 8 weeks from posted until I got practice certificate..
Keep in touch.. When are you leaving for Oz?

Thanks for that info I will get on to it didn't realise it would take 8 wks, in my innocence thought it would be an immediate thing on the net!!! We leave on the 24th June, am renting our house so we are lucky that we haven't got that delaying us, am just in the process of sorting through kids toys as I'm only planning on taking them and a few sentimental things, cus its' hard to get shipping costs without knowing exactly what you plan on taking! You go from 1 worry to another with this don't you? Keep me posted on your progress!!!

I saw a job advertised and sent my cv to their HR and had a further 2 calls from different departments asking for telephone interviews. I am specialised in neonatal surgery (its all I have done for 9 yrs since qualifying) so really wanted to stay in that field to keep a bit of familiarity during this big life change, but had the other interviews all the same for the experience and was offered the jobs, but chose to go with what I know. If you know where you want to work I would send your cv to the hospital and see how what you hear from there. Did you sign the skill matching database on the visa too, should get some contacts from that I would have thought. Good luck and Keep me posted!!
