I didnt have a bad night either, woke up around 1am(ish) and had to have my inhaler as I couldnt breathe but took a while to get back to sleep from the steroid insomnia but I managed it and woke up at 6am .

Brought my specialist appointment forward as I am super sensitive to the steroids now so really need to come down to 0.5mg of Dex as they are screwing with my blood sugar, fluid retention (bad) and playing a part in the insomnia so really need to reduce but I think my GP is going to sort that out next week.

Glad some of you got sleep!

I use deep breathing to relax me and get me back off, but when you wake up in a puddle of sweat, you just have to cool off first and adjust the bedclothes, then when it passes I become so cold I'm shivering, so the bedclothes have to go back on again. During the day I'm putting layers on and ripping them off with startling regularity.

Maybe I'm turning into a lizard, who has to regulate her body temperature by basking in the sun when cold, or hiding under a rock when warm. (In my case getting into a cold swimming pool.)

I have a big gorgeous squishy duvet on the bed but I also have a small fan just by my side and when I get too warm I put that on and it's just enough to help me cool off a bit and get back to sleep - give it a whirl - good luck x

I have been told that people with certain AI diseases struggle to regulate their body temperature, I feel the cold to the point my fingers go blue and sweat like Gary Glitter in a creche on other occasions.

Insomnia again,3rd night in a row, coupled with hot flushes.:frown:

Stil either freezing or boiling. Currently wearing my coat over my fleece, fire on and ugg-like boots. The wheat pack is still in the bedroom where OH is asleep:thumbdown: or I'd have that too.

I didnt have a bad night, on/off sleeping which I am used to but then I have a lot to think about at the moment so putting it down to that.

I have stopped fretting when I cant sleep, just lie in bed and read or watch a DVD and always end up falling asleep and I seem to be getting enough sleep so I just go with the flow.

I went through all that and despite my avid resistance I was persuaded to try HRT. My doc reckoned that losing sleep was the more serious problem so put me on Livial. It's not synthetic hormones but a steroid that your body converts to the hormones it wants. Technical enough for you?
Anyhow it worked wonders. I still got hot sweats but not as many and I as able to sleep with only one or two pools of sweat a night. It has taken years and years for the sweats to disappear completely.
Now I have the opposite problem - getting through the day without a little snooze.

I was on HRT for 10 years, (for hot flushes and insomnia and also because I was too young to be menopausal) from the age of 40. Came off it 18 months ago. I have Reynaud's and poor circulation, so my digits are interesting colours.
I take so many pills that I rattle. Steroids are what I try to avoid like the plague- they are the standard treatment for MS flares, and do nasty things to you.

I hate steroids with a passion and have 10kgs of steroid weight to shift from this dose. Specialist has agreed no matter what, I cannot go any higher than 0.5mg of Dex which is what I am on now. No matter how bad things get, I have become so sensitive to them I have hit a wall with going any higher.

However, the dose I am on has given me my life back, the pain is manageable, I actually have saliva so I get to keep my teeth and my lungs dont hurt half as bad so whilst I know it is going to be hard to shift the steroid weight, I will stay on this dose if I have to.

:o

I have lost 5kgs since March through being on a GF diet, and no way am I going to go on 'roids and put it back on.

Or the weight loss could be due to cancer, if the pregnancy test results are wrong. That is just me being gloomy though- it is only a 1/6 chance.

Hope you are not waiting too long to find out.

My appetite is almost zilch, so I am eating minimal compared to my steroid hunger, I am sure I will lose it - I go to the gym now so hopefully it will come off. Not exercising is not an option for me and the gym is the only thing I can do at the moment. Fingers crossed I shift the weight - 27kgs in total including steroid weight.:o
