There was an extensive article in the SMH which actually explained the situation a lot clearer than the DM!

I sometimes actually read more Aussie news in the DM than over here.

It was first reported quite extensively in the SMH (and other Fairfax papers) last Saturday. They had a news item and an opinion piece on it. The Daily Mail didn't pick up the story until four days later, by which time it had gone off the boil here rather.
