Agreed, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Afterall, if you can't laugh at yourself what hope is there.

Alliecat and her man seem overly sensitive IMO. She must be from Melbourne. They're always a bit weird. Must be the lack of sun and decent footy.

Having said that I have been here for a few years but from what I remember of Sydney it rained more there then it does here.
You must be missing Australia.

Average annual rainfall in Sydney is 327.6mm.
Average annual rainfall in Selby is 454.66mm.

Not that less rainfall is a good thing in this day and age ...

Yea - posted by me. I roll it out for special occasions - like when an ignorant Little Englander spouts invective that wouldn't be out of place at a BNP piss-up.

I am a little bit.........my husband and I are actually talking about going back (But not because of what i posted before) he was just granted a 5 year extention on his spouse permamnet Visa thingy. I am a permanent resident here so it is easy for us to live in either country (I know we are one of the lucky ones). But I think my husband wants to go back more then me (he was born here)

Yup. To Englands credit though, it doesn't rain as much I find. It's a lot warmer. Right now we're in winter and where I am, in the South, flowers have already begun to bloom. We're talking maybe two months ahead of season I'm no fan of the rain or cold, but this really can't be a good thing.

I know but it gets tired after years of having to do it. My husband by nature is the one in the crowd who will play around and take the p*** out of himself to encourage a fun friendly experience but there is a difference between doing that in all good fun which is what British people tend to do and the sort of nastiness that often underlies the reaction in Australia. I would pretend to be a dimwitted 'female' amongst my friends in the UK because my experience has been that the men I socialise with here don't actually think women are stupid. Having grown up with Australian males I would never do it there because alot of them truly think women are stupid and inferior. I think it is a case of choose your audience. Which is why I would never advise an immigrant to Australia to just call themselves a 'Pommy b***d as it would 'break the ice'.
