I'd like to introduce you to a very early arrival...
Our son was born on thursday morning at 7.37 weighing in at a massive 2.5 lbs, or 1.16 kilos and a whopping 36 cm's long
After 3 hours of labour (most of it in denial and in an ambulance with no chance of pain relief!) Flynn made a spectacular entrance to the world and was literally caught by the OB.
I was 27 weeks and 3 days pregnant.
He's now about 80 something hours old and has been taken off his ventilator and put onto breathing tubes up his nose. There are no bleeds to the brain and only a very small heart mumur (kind of expected at this stage). He has had his first "feed" today through his tube and his jaudice lamp has ben taken away.
He is still breathing way to fast (and they are a bit flumoxed as to why!) and goes bracchycardic (sp) now and then, but he "self starts" most of the time (which means no prodding or intervention) which is a great begining for such a wee young man.
As the hours turn into days there is more hope in our hearts that things will be ok in the end.
Its a good job i know my way round the hospital, we're gonna be there for a few months yet!

Congratulations!
He's a good weight and sounds as if he's doing well considering he's so early.
Wish Flynn, you and your family all the best!

Congrats girl!!
my best friends baby was also born at 27 weeks, 2lb 2oz, and she spent the first 12 weeks in hospital to get her to her full term "age" and was 4lbs when she went home and hasnt looked back since.
Shes 5 now and apart from being a little bit smaller than her friends you would never know - she wins every prize going at school and doesnt have any health problems at all - never has.
Its amazing how the littlies can thrive these days from such a prem age - I'm sure he'll be fine.
take care x

Did they give you a shot of steroids in the ambulance or when you got to the hospital? Or was it to late?
I really dont have the right words for you guys, after all you've both been through. I wish I was nearby to help - look out for the hormones over the next few weeks, and don't let the nurses in PICU/NICU/SCBU (or whatever they call it) bully you - he's your baby. xx

Love and best wishes to you all, and praying for him to grow in strength every day. You're a strong lovely family, and deserve all the happiness possible.
And to think I said to The Bloke last week......if we get down there in March there'll be a very new baby to visit
