Yea - none of us expats can contribute. For that matter, nor can anyone who lived in the UK (no matter how briefly) during the mad now 'era'.

Yep, if you lived in the UK between 86 - 92 for any amount of time, you can't donate blood. Apparently by 2011 they might have a test to test for 'Mad Cow', so until then our blood is not worthy!

No don't bother - if you've lived in the UK in the 80's they're not interested!

According to something written in 2000 that I can't be bothered to verify as current ....

------------------------
The Service has introduced a deferral policy for blood donors who have spent a cumulative period of 6 months in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands or Isle of Man between 1 January 1980 and 31 December 1996. This also includes those who are vegetarians.

This will leave the Service with a 5 per cent loss in blood donations amounting to 25,000 to 30,000 people.
