The Bunnings fella is right, but you can probably get away with a mid priced mower. Australian's get excited about Victas, but some of the other brands like Masport (assembled in NZ) are just as good. If you're going for a 2 stroke mower, Victa is your only choice. Another alternative is a hand mower, which has a self sharpening blade, no there's no maintainance involved. A good option if you have a smaller area.

I bought the $199 (reduced from 249) petrol mover from KMart. 4 stroke engine, and until Saturday, it was fab. Now cannot get the bloody thing started, so I'm getting a warranty repair!
