I know its the Daily Mail but....
...I was amazed when I saw that a burglar was let out of prison as it would impinge on his human rights as a father.
I guess some of the reason was to prevent the kids going into care, but still he is not the greatest of role models for the kids under his influence:

It is the mail so I doubt the full story is there. I think a good dose of community service would be best. Ripping apart unstable families is not exactly a great way to stop the cycle of crime. Frankly make the idiot pay through hard labour. Prison costs the taxpayer a fortune.

So you are saying that the DM is cherry picking the facts? Oh no!
One thing I will say though is that my 10 months or so in UK makes me realise that British justice is very....lax. It seems to be that crime involving the establishment gets treated harshly, offences against individuals, far less so. The politicians really do seem to have lost the plot. Kenneth Clarke saying rapists who plead guilty should be treated less harshly for instance. What an arse.

Can't get my head around that either, In the Uk you have to be a celebrity, and loosing your license will effect the Charity work you are doing

Sadly tabloids and a lot of posters think the justice system is about locking up in the pretence of being "tough on crime". It is populist bollocks but that is what makes a great media item.

In reality we all know the capital punishment and the death penalty should be brought back. Them Talibans have got it spot on. And there's nothing a good public lynching didn't solve.
