That is very sad to hear my love - I know what you mean about the 'mom' figure. I have a wonderful step-daughter here in Oz who is 9 months younger than my own daughter. I have been blessed with her - and I hope she realises that she is as much 'mine' as she is her mum's.

Just wanted to say good on ya, take it slow, don't expect too much all at once.
My mother and I went about seven years without talking at one point. Her biggest regret now, in her ahem, later years, is all the years she missed out on. Especially now that we're living over here and she can't exactly pop by to say hello.
Oh and we're still talking and emailing now, 6.5 years on, after some serious bridge building. If we can do it, I'm sure anyone can. Good luck.
