So sorry Rooksie ... 
I've just today been given the news that our Max HAS got a place on a plane in time for when we go. Cos we had to leave it till we got the visas to go ahead, it WAS close!
It's costing £1600 to Golden Arrow, plus the end fee's.
Best bit is if we DON'T get PR we have to bring him back with us and he'll have to do 6 months quarantine this way! ...
.... plus all the fee's to get him back!

I have to do thsi with our cat. I am dreading it. No-one wants her bless. She is lovely and everything but we just can't take her.

I'm so sad for you having to leave your animals behind. We left Sth Africa in 2000, leaving an alaskan malamute, (my dog), 2 GSD's and a maltese. It broke our hearts.
On deciding to emigrate , we gave our 18 month old GSD to the Police and the house felt really empty. He was pining in kennels and when I phoned after 2 weeks to see how he was, the kennel maid told us that he obviously loved us very much, wasn't eating or playing etc; well, we were in the car so fast.....
Now he's back home and he's coming with us. however I've got 2 lovely 1/2 persians - anyone want a cat?

I dont think there is anyway I could ever leave my dog regardless of circumstances. I'd rather find a way to get the money together and leave the furniture than my most reliable friend.
I realise peoples circumstances are all different and I'm not heaping guilt or scorn on those who have chosen differently.
Personally I made a promise by taking on our dog. One I intend to keep through thick and thin.
